Hobo Haven Rescue

finnegan is now accepting applications

Meet Finnegan, now available for adoption

Finn is a young Boston Terrier (mix?) male pup, neutered and up to date on his vetting now, who arrived into our care through no fault of his own when the other dogs in the home were attacking him.

Finn is now accepting adoption applications from suitable homes. Please read his entire profile before applying.

Finnegan will do best with another confident, friendly but passive (ideally female) dog in his home to help with his confidence and social skills which he was not provided with in his previous home. He thrives on walks with the other balanced, non reactive dogs in his foster home, and he's seriously never not touching another dog. He seeks them out for constant companionship if he is comfortable with their personality.

Our foster is working hard on building his good canine manners but he would thrive best in a home with another dog whom is not confrontational and would not object to a "bossy buddy" who hasn't yet gotten downpat how manners work, if he wants a certain toy he can bark in their face trying to demand toys or try and take. This behaviour will improve with a family who is devoted to his ongoing positive based training and building him up for success in his new home.

Finn is a high energy, young pup who would thrive with a family who is active and continues his training (mandatory training registration is required). He would be an ideal partner for agility or rally O work with him to keep his intelligent mind engaged.

He is also vocal during play and would not be well suited for attached housing or apartments so we are seeking a detached home only where his loud voice will not cause problems with neighbours during play etc.

Finn is best in a home without young children, and would be a good fit in a home with cats IF they are dog savvy, calm cats and he also has another friendly dog to engage with, as he is prone to chasing the cats out of boredom. He also loves to snuggle with the calm cats in his foster home.

He does best with other dogs who are not intense, are passive and friendly without being in his face in an overwhelming manner.

He is a snuggle expert who adores all people but can be selective about dogs he meets, he's either their best friend if they are a good match, or can be reactive, which he needs work with to resolve.

He struggles with intact males and intros but thrives after initial meet. He is an extreme cuddle bug and always seeking companionship in every activity. He is high energy and would excel in agility  and scent training. Leash skills are improving when no distractions are present but he still struggles with distractions. Finn is always up for an adventure and doesn't want to be treated like a "small dog". He does well in the crate but is not destructive outside of it. He is still mouthy while playing but learning.

Finn LOVES toys sooo much and has asked that his new forever home has a fabulous supply of toys for him ;)

Minimum donation Adoption Fee $750 with a $100 REBATE provided upon proof of successful completion of approved training classes.

For anyone possibly interested in adopting from Hobo Haven, here are a few, but not all, criteria to be aware of:

We require all serious applicants to watched "Petfooled" which is a free documentary at this link https://vimeo.com/300627165, on Amazon prime or also a variety of other free video sites.

Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational.

An adoption application must be completed and approved, as well as a home visit (Zoom during COVID), prior to meeting available dogs. All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit.

We do not allow applicants to visit until pre-approved for adoptions.

Any questions may be emailed, our volunteers work full time and are often not able to answer or return phone calls in a timely manner.

Due to the high volume of applications received for our dogs, priority of replies will be given to applicants who meet the criteria mentioned in the pet's profile.

Please do not ask us to make exceptions, we set these protocols and policies for the dog's best interests which are always our highest priority.
